From the Senior Warden

“When you count acolytes, Chalice bearers, ushers, greeters, nursery people, altar guild, choir, etc., there are more people involved in an Episcopal service than in any other. And there are more opportunities to be involved.”
101 Reasons to be Episcopalian # 83

One of my favorite little books that I use often for quotes is “101 Reasons to be Episcopalian.” The quotes are from bishops, priests, deacons, and lay persons, compiled by Louie Crew, a professor of English at Rutgers University. Dr. Crew states that he found a home in the Episcopal Church after graduating from college. He further states that “God found me here and has never stopped loving me into loving the entire world.” Whatever prompted you to become part of the Episcopal Church is just as meaningful as Dr. Crew’s reason.

“The Bible says we should make a joyful noise unto the Lord. Laughter is as joyful a noise as you’ll ever hear, and there’s a lot of it in an Episcopal Church.”

Our job is to welcome you and be a friend and it’s the Holy Spirit’s job to encourage you to return and stay. Each of us has a different reason to be Episcopalian, and each reason is equally valid. We’re happy to share our reasons.

“We welcome the faithful, the seeker, and the doubter.”

Episcopalians are a thinking lot, and where there are two of us, there will be at least two opinions, if not more. But we all come to the same Table. We come to the same Table because we know God loves us. We come here because it is safe to doubt. We share resources and hold ourselves accountable in stewardship to ourselves, our community, our diocese, and to the mission of the church nationally and beyond.
At our Annual Meeting the entire congregation was given a full accounting of the condition of our parish. We have a new Vestry and a new year. But we hold the same truths, beliefs, and desires. We are delighted, excited, and humbled at the prospects of 2012. With your support, Fr. Ron’s guidance, and God’s blessings this promises to be not only a good year, but also a great one. Thank you.

“When Anglicanism is at its best, its liturgy, its poetry, its music, and its life can create a world of wonder in which it is very easy to fall in love with God.”
